SMTP error

we have use local server and setup SMTP for our shop.

In our shop admin area we select SMTP and smtp Address is localhost

but following error displayed when we send mail

Message was not sent

Mailer Error: SMTP Error: Could not connect to SMTP host.

Please let me how to solve this problem?

localhost always defaults to the local computer.
If you run your shop on a local basis (i.e. like XAMPP) that's ok because there is no SMTP-server listening.
Use an existing email her from any provider that supports SMTP (e.g. GMX.de or yahoo)

If you run your shop on some domain already, you have to configure these settings like you would in your email program.

we are setup in our server smtp.gmx.com. but till following error displayed

I setup that mercury mail followed by the video. but till it is not working.. I'm not sure where i made the mistake.

Please explain how to setup in other service provider SMTP (like yahoo.com) in my localhost for testing

I have used setup the yahoo smtp but it is not working please check it the screens

Mailer Error: SMTP Error: Could not connect to SMTP host.

This error cannot be understood wrong. It means that you don't get a connection to your SMTP Server.

The host for SMTP for GMX is mail.gmx.net the one for Yahoo should be smtp.mail.yahoo.com. Try it again with this and look if it works. If not you should check if your local firewall is blocking the smtp connection.
